Fine Line is a tattoo style in which artists work with ONLY 1-3 needles. This ensures delicate linework, limits tattoo expansion over time when completed properly, and allows for tiny detailing.
The Fine Line style traces all the way back to ancient times, originating from Polynesian and Southeast Asian tattoo traditions, but recently emerging within the US through the Chicano art movement.
-
Think of needles as brushes for painting - The standard tattoo style utilizes 5+ needles (like using a thicker brush). Fine line utilizes 1-3 (a smaller brush).
-
Yes - Having less needles hit your skin repeatedly does hurt less than standard tattooing. However, due to the dainty strokes and only 1-3 needles injecting ink, it takes more time and passes than standard would. Additional passes increase tenderness.
-
No, Fine Line is very much permanent. You can see a slew of healed works by Lish on the Gallery page.
However, much like Microblading often requires a Perfection Session at 6-8 weeks, it is common for Fine Line to require a little extra TLC once healed.
-
Absolutely. Fine Line Artists are required to complete training with Certification after countless hours, often a hefty investment, and a whole lot of practice. Following Certification, Fine Line Artists are required to submit to the Health Department for a Body Art Inspection following Facility Zoning qualifications and Body Art Application fees. The Health Department reviews the facility, setup and tear down processes, Certification, Aftercare, Consent Forms, all products used, and more.
Like all Tattoo Artists, Fine Line Artists must meet all Health Department qualifications in order to be approved and granted a Body Art License to operate in their county, state.

Lish is a mother of three and loves children, however, with this being a Tattoo Appointment within a Salon environment, there are some requirements for children to accompany you.
Children are welcome so long as:
They will not be dependent on you while you are in the Tattoo Chair/Bed: Can they sit on the bench for the duration of your appointment OR another adult guest is able to take care of them while you are being tattooed?
They are not prone to noise or outbursts that may negatively impact the experiences of others within the Salon: Are they at a stage in their development where they can maintain their “inside voice” as we do have Massage Therapists who require a quiet environment?
If the answer is YES to both of these questions, then please feel free to bring them!
If dependency or noise becomes an issue during your appointment, please understand your appointment will have to be rescheduled or cancelled and the appropriate fee will be charged to the card on file immediately.

I do provide tattoo services for minors with their parent or guardian’s approval.
I require the minor’s Birth Certificate which must state the parent’s name and MATCH the name of the parent’s ID (please bring name change documentation - most commonly your Marriage License - if your name has changed). I also require the minor’s Permit, Driver’s License, or School ID in which the name must also match the Birth Certificate.
In cases of Legal Guardianship, please bring Guardianship documentation and ensure the names MATCH both the adult and minor’s names displayed on their ID’s.
The parent/guardian will be required to fill out a Consent Form for the Minor, and the Minor will also be required to fill out their own Consent Form, validating that BOTH the minor and the adult have consented.

Lish is not open to bartering for services at this time. However, if you would like to collab for a Giveaway or Marketing Campaign, you may contact Lish here.
